The Journey Continues: Entry #26.1

Well it's been a few weeks since Helios came home and I have been busy busy busy! making him all kinds of new things!

Another new thing is the title of the blog entries, they will now be the Journey Continues along with the subsequent original post number + a point number to indicate post home coming events. #26.1 in this posts case.

Mocha has been adjusting to Helios well and the two seem to get along, she hasn't tried to chew on him yet, except for his socks... apparent even doll socks are magnetic to kittens. O_o
This is the toga outfit I made for him, I'd been planning this for months, probably since I had ordered him, it came out looking fantastic! I'm very pleased. :)

In this pic I made a few things, the Hat, the Vest and
Argyle socks... I just like to say that... Arrrrgyle. Hehe!

Here is a better picture of the vest.
The material was a pain in the butt to use, the edges just had a fun time fraying all over the place and I had to "adjust" the seams once finished because they popped open in 3 spots! Ack! It still came out looking good even after I had to fix it.

The Journey: Entry #25

Well... the day has arrived! After Stalking him via UPS through 5 states, and only one of which that I have been too, Helios is home! It is a not to carefully planed coincidence that his arrival post matches the date. Once I seen that it would I did make sure to save post #25 for today. The Completion of his Journey Home.
I purchased him through Denver Doll Emporium, it was the only way I'd ever be able to afford one of these dolls. In this pic we see the newspaper land fill he came packed in.
Upon removal of the paper we see his wonderfully blue, Bobobie box! :D
The fluffy Golden bag! Just as fluffy and golden as his personality and his hair will be :D
Fresh out of the box close up of his face!
The obligatory, shameless, mitten clad, mummy pic!
Words need not be said here...
A close up of his face fresh out of the bag, he has blue eyes but will soon have gloriously green eyes!
And here he is! Helios in his hand made welcome home PJ's!
 His face is so awesome
A closer pic of his face! The hat is hand made too! :D
A different angel. Me and my best friend took our dolls to starbucks or what would be Helios's very first outing! I was so thrilled!
"But but wait... I just got out of the box..."
I just had to make this meme! All I can say is I am thoroughly enjoying meeting my doll for the first time.

The Journey: Entry #24

I'm Tracking Helios across the united states! At the time of this post he is in route from Earth City, MO.
I'm having fun with it and trying to predict what city he'll scan in next. His next two options are Memphis, TN or Louisville, KY. Being that he needs to come south my money is on Memphis, but he's been traveling on a highway from Denver thus far and Louisville is next in line. But I'll choose one for the giggles of it.

Next Predicted Scan - Memphis, TN.
Actual Scan -Atlanta GA (wow)

*edit*

Well... It would seem Helios grew wings and flew! I certainly did not expect him to have hopped a plain. Or he very well could have been on the road with a lead foot maniac behind the wheel. O_o (Mental image of a bug shit crazy, UPS driver muahahaing down the highway driving a huge truck)
He should be in Florida by tomorrow morning! I'm Figuring hes back on the ground now so he should be hopping on a truck and cruising down 75, if hes going 75 the next scan should be Gainesville! He may even be in on the 24th O_O! Le Gasp!

The Journey: Entry #22

Still patiently waiting for Helios, Ive taken to learning how to Crochet which is working out very well. I was able to Crochet a hat from some of the online instructions I found. I was proud of me for getting over my fear of numbers.

In other better news I think my boyfriend is starting to warm up to the idea of the doll, he's starting to come up with ideas of things for me to make it which makes me happy, considering he's maintained his "its just a big barbie" stance for a while. You can see the argument of which in the picture featured left.

Yeah... sorry my "ken doll" is going to have balls. No seriously, he has legitimate testicles and a penis. The dolls are anatomically correct. I know, huge shocker to find out men have dangley parts down there and women's breasts have nipples, right? You mean we don't have built in perma-undeware? Mind officially blown. XD

But honestly... that barbie... is it not the most misshapen thing you've ever set eyes on? I'm kinda freaked out that I had one like that now... eesh.

The Journey: Entry #21

Ok, ok I know its only been 5 days since I got that little message from Bobobie but its killing me not knowing where my doll is! ::takes a deep breath through nose:: I will be calm though... I will chillax and be patient... I... will... resist the urge to ask where my doll is... I know its coming soon... GAH!!! The suspense is killing me!!!! In other news I manages to crochet a pair of scarves for mine and my friends dolls, I have one hat made and will work on a second soon... probably tomorrow... Or may start tonight... we'll see. :)

The Journey: Entry #18

Last night was fun, me and my friend made dolly clothing together via skype! I didn't get finished while on camera with her but it was still fun!

I chose to make the top to the PJ pants outfit I had started last month. I think it was last month... any who I made the top! Incidentally after 20 minuets of trying to attach snaps and fancy buttons, I sucked it up and used regular buttons...
This is another pic of the pants, my friend let me trace her girl doll to make something of a paper manikin, well foam board manikin... but yeah! It worked nicely. :)
And here is the set together! Both pieces have the foam form in them to keep their shapes.

In other news, here is baby Mocha one month later! Shes a happy, healthy, thriving little monster! It was rough going at first but with patients, love and dedication to her well-being this little runt has made it to be 5 weeks old with no signs of stopping! She will be 6 weeks on Saturday and while shes still a little undersized for her age shes not behind developmentally, she learned how to use the litter box in only 1 day and she eats kitten food like a boss. My little Mocha beans is my angel!

The Journey: Entry #17

I called Dever doll today and found out that Helios isn't in yet. Le sigh... so that means I'll be waiting a little longer than 4 months, I just hope he come in before that convention me and my friend want to go to!

The Journey: Entry #16

Ok so here it is, the renowned shrimp bag, or is it? On the front you still see some of the shrimp art but inside is a different story now, oh yes; I have Moo-ified the bag! Literally!

On the inside you can see I've modified the bag some, it actually now has a hard center I made of foam board, that was not a feature of the bag, despite the picture seeming as if the bag was solid. So now this bag offers protection for my incoming doll. :)

Upon closer inspection you can see the material is covered with moo...moo...moo...moo...moo...

I still have yet to deal with the shrimp art on the front of the bag, but that will happen in good time. :)

The Journey: Entry #15

Alrighty so my bag is in! It's been in since the 9th of this month but I've been busy with baby Mocha.
It's certainly NOT worth $80 like some sights have it for, that is seriously retarded. $20 is appropriate to pay for it, the shrimp art makes no sense and yes it is legitimately shrimp art. The bag's dimensions are listed at 27x7x7 my ass... it's about 25ish inches on the inside. But it should still work for my purposes. I added some foam bored to the inside to harden it up, that worked out nicely for now but im going to refit the bag with thin wood in the future. This is the last month I'll be waiting for my doll! The 3rd of next month should see Helios ship! Ahhhhhh!!!! <3

The Journey: Entry #14

I have purchased my Bag! It's not exactly a doll carrier but it should work nicely.

Here is the description from e-bay:

Specifications

27" by 7" by 7".
Outer fabric 100% durable cotton/canvas - Lining 80/20 poly-cotton - Trim 100% poly.
Color - Bone (Natural color of unbleached canvas) with dark blue trim.

Features
Slightly oversized to accomodate your yoga mat plus clothing, phone, keys, water bottle etc.
Designer quality and construction with adjustable padded shoulder strap.
Both an inside and outside zippered pocket for small items
Fully lined with a fabric print of original and fanciful artwork by the renowned artist Brooke Connor.

Honestly the art on the inside of the bag looks like its shrimp or some odd sea creature... I'll see when it gets here which should be in a few days. Other sites had this bag up at $80, probably because of the renowned shrimp art. E-bay had it for $20. SOLD!

The Journey: Entry #13

Well here we are! Just one month left until my 1/3 Bobobie boy comes home!!! My excitement is tempered this month as I have adopted a very small runt kitten, we named her Mocha. Shes not out of the woods yet and taking care of her has sucked up all of my energy to create, I haven't gotten more then 3 hours of solid sleep in about 4 days. Hopefully she will turn the corner here this week. I did however make her the cutest pair of rice-pack body pillows to keep her warm with. n_n

The Journey: Entry #12

Got a chance to go out with my friend the other day, don't get a chance to do that very often so it was a good day. She spotted the perfect material for Helios's toga, I was originally going with white material but after she found this cream color with golden speckles I was hooked. It will look amazing once I actually make it. Here's hoping for a burst of much needed creative go! :)

The Journey: Entry #11

Just one and a half more weeks to end this month, we are getting close to the one month mark and with that I'm picking up my production of welcome home clothing. :)

Here is a wip pic of the sleepy pants's material before I cut it.
I am actually pretty bad at math but I can pin a pattern like a boss. They may still be hip huggers, I realized after I finished them both that I forgot to modify the measurement of the crotch. Opps.
They came out very nice despite my mistake, I can still get crafty and add material to fix them if I find I need to but hopefully I made them large enough to ignore the opps.
I keep saying Im gonna make a toga... damn I really just need to do it already...

The Journey: Entry #10

Had a great day with my friend, had a good lunch, then got some coffee and discovered that the jeans and sweater I made are just about the right size for her doll Rhiannon/Selene.
I'm still two months off of getting my first doll and hes bigger than the girl so, I gave mah friend the clothes I made for her doll. Now that I know how to size everything (rounded to 30cm if it says 25) my later creations should fit nicely. :)

Squee! The other wig has arrived!!!!!
Box open, ooo packing peanuts! Haven't seen those in a while. :)
A glorious mess! Oh and look imported candy! :D
And the wig! I love its shine, I found this wig while window shopping one night, literally the next day it was discontinued! :d

The Journey: Entry #8

Im extremely proud of the doll sweater I just got finished making. Its made from a pair of fancy men's socks (the dollar tree's finest) and a 46 year old zipper! I know its at least that old because it still had the original packaging! I am seriously loving Great Grandmas box of sewing treasures!
It took a few hours to make, not very hard just going pic for pic from a tutorial was a bit difficult, not to mention I sewed one of the sleeves onto the wrong side of the jacket LOL! The lil' hanger was a nice touch. :)

The Journey: Entry #7

WoooooooooooooooT! Helios Payment #2 processing! And my impulse wig is processing payment as well! Ima give a special shout out to mah best friend who gave me an awesome outfit after discovering that the smexy clothes she bought for her new boy, made him look like he was waiting for a flood or forgot to buy new clothes after age 12. I will be helping her make replacement clothes for her dolls. I r e-cited!

 ACCESSORIES BOX OPENING!!!
Ok so, as you can guess I am now home and I FINELY get to open up the wig and eyes!!!!

Lets crack this puppy open!!!
Squeee!!! The red shoes are a "gift" from the company, they like to give little random things to their customers. When I get my second girl doll she will get the shoes! :D
All out of the box, Wig 16mm glass eyes and gift kitty shoes. :)

Upon closer inspection of the eyes I discovered they are in fact two tone, I'm a bit sad about that so ill be getting new eyes eventually. But they will look nice for the time being. :)

Ah his glorious golden wig! Mom thinks it looks like a girls wig but I think it looks like messy guy hair. :)

And finely the super omg cute red kitty shoes!
They will be for my girl, a bobobie rachael whos name will be Decala.

The Journey: Entry #2

I was very happy and surprised to get an actually piece of mail from Denver doll! It was the invoice for them having ordered my doll!!! I'm super excited to know they ordered my apollo doll (helios) I cant wait to start on his toga, I also realized that I'm going to have to become awesome and learn how to make shoes... Challenge accepted. In other doll news Ill be ordering the wig and eyes soon thanks to my loving boyfriend (sucks up) who just LUVS (insert sarcasm here) the idea of me getting what amounts to a gigantic barbie doll, well ken really since its a boy. But he has his new 3ds so hes in a good mood.

And for your viewing pleasure a wonderful deviant artist has created a piece of Man candy for our eyes to feast upon. Behold an artist rendition of the Sun God Helios!

The Journey: Entry #1

Today marks day one in my journey into the wonderful world of ball jointed dolls or BJD. I ordered my very first doll through a import company called Denver doll, recommended to me by my best friend who ordered her first doll from them. I ordered a Bobobie Apollo with light tan or coffee colored skin; My doll's name will be Helios. I still gave yet to order his wig and eyes, which will be a glorious golden blond color and mesmerizing, emerald green eyes. Since it will take me 4 months to get him, I will be making a majority of his clothing, his first outfit will be that of a Toga, just because it's easy to make based on measurements with out having the doll in hand and I feel that a Toga is befitting of his Greek name. Now starts the wait... o_O ..... O_o ..... are we there yet? :)
